Chapter & Verse Presents:
BLACK VOICES: a scholarship
We need your voices.
Brands need your voices.
As an industry, we’ve left too much talent on the sidelines for too long. It’s time to change that.
Over the past two decades, we’ve seen little, tangible progress in opening the doors of the Advertising world to young, Black talent. Often, we’ve rationalized the reasons for this as it applies directly to us—“we get zero Black applicants” responding to our openings, or “maybe it’s a Northwest thing”.
But maybe, Black students don’t see themselves reflected in our industry. As a result, they feel they don’t belong here so they don’t apply.
That’s a miss for all of us.
So we’ve decided we need to be intentional in our support of Black talent. And to do that, we need to reach back into High Schools and Higher Ed and offer access to an industry that can provide a rewarding, creative career experience.
To that end, we are introducing the Chapter & Verse Black Voices Scholarship Program. The scholarship is one small step to make Black voices an integral part of the Creative process, the Planning process, the Research, Strategy, Interactive and Social process—at agencies everywhere.
But we want to do more than just write checks. Our hope is students will take advantage of the opportunities for mentorship and guidance from our team. In addition to cash awards, recipients will be first in line for consideration for internships and placement opportunities upon graduation.
We are hoping, together, we can build a platform to give Black talent a chance to be seen, to get paid for your passion and turn the industry on its head.
